Animal Clinic of Woodruff is now carrying Proheart 6, an injectable heartworm preventative for dogs. The key benefit of Proheart 6 is that a single injection provides 6 months of continuous heartworm prevention—meaning no more worrying about remembering to give monthly pills or chews (learn more about heartworm disease here). In one convenient dose, you have peace of mind that your dog is protected from heartworm disease for 6 months. Our clinic computers will even generate automatic reminders when it’s time for your dog’s next dose. Additionally, the injection immediately treats hookworm infections.
Is Proheart 6 right for my dog?
Proheart 6 is approved for healthy dogs over the age of 6 months. This includes pregnant, lactating or breeding dogs. It’s safe to administer along with flea and tick preventatives.
As with all new medications, it’s important to talk to us about any allergies, previous reactions or health conditions your dog has to ensure that Proheart 6 will be a safe choice. But to alleviate any concerns, know that Dr. Merri has chosen to give her dog the heart worm prevention.

How can I learn more?
Please call our office or make an appointment to discuss if Proheart 6 is right for your dog. We’ll have brochures and handouts available in the clinic to help you learn more. After its brief time off the market, we are excited to have Proheart 6 available again in the clinic, and we look forward to helping our clients ensure that they never miss another heartworm dose.
